Born and raised in Grand Falls, New-Brunswick, Samuel always knew since a very young age that he would later on work in the business field. Samuel obtained his bachelor of Commerce at Université de Moncton in 2011 and currently studying for his professional designation as a Chartered Professional Accountant with CPA Atlantic School of business. Before joining Keal as Controller on January 2014, Samuel acted as Accountant for one of the largest independent fuel distributor in New-Brunswick and as a staff accountant for a local accounting firm.
Desjardins started to be actively involved even while enrolled for his bachelor at university, with numerous local organization in the community. Samuel became at 20 years old the president of the potato festival for three consecutive years from 2012-2014 and two years as board member. He also served as Treasurer of the local Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Grand Falls Farmer’s Market, and the Grand Falls Club Richelieu social club.
A very focused and driven citizen Desjardins was a founding member in 2012 and still is an active member of a charity event named “Project Rouge” which is organized in order to deliver much needed funds to a local shelter for women’s and children victim of family abuse. Since its inception this foundation as donated more than $50,000 to the local shelter.
Aside the Project Rouge, Desjardins is currently Treasurer of the Organizing Committee for the 40th Jeux de l’acadie that will be held in Grand Falls. This event regroups more than a thousand students across all of the Canadian Atlantic Provinces for a week of sports and cultural activities amongst them.
A craft and imported beer enthusiast he is an active member of The Falls Beer Fest, a festival held every October showcasing new and local craft and artisanal beers offered in New Brunswick.
On his spare time, Desjardins likes to golf, read, spinning, hike in the nature, photography and is a culinary enthusiast.
